Double Double With Onions
Two For The Price of...uh, Two
What we found in our research:
Our next free offer for review is a Free Zinger site from Direct Survey Solutions out of Vancouver, BC. This is one of those Double Free Offer sites with two back-to-back sets of offers. The prize for the first one is a pair of Jet Blue Airline tickets, and the second one has a list of incentives to choose from, which include, among others, 2 laptops, 5 gift cards, and a big screen plasma TV. But, there is a potential stopper on the requirements of the first Platinum, page as you’ll see.
Both offers have the standard Silver/Gold/Platinum selection pages. The first one, by Free Zinger, is a 2-2-9 layout showing a 3-page total of 45 ad banners from which to choose. The second one, by Consumer Rewards from 123 Click, has only a 2-2-4 selection requirement from a whopping 3-page total of 137 ad banners. But, be advised, the second one has a 60 day time limit and, to qualify for the incentive gift, you’ve got to sign up two friends who must also complete the second offer requirements. We did not do a cost analysis review on the second offer.
Quickly Through The Silver & Gold Pages
In the first offer, we got completely through the Silver page with no cash required. However, to get through the Gold page, the two cheapest ad/offers we could find cost $7.82 for shipping and handling on two risk free trials (RFTs).
Just Squeaking By On a Close One...Whew!
On the Platinum page we discovered the cost was going to be a lot higher since there were only 13 ad/offers and we needed nine of them, and only two of these 13 were RFTs. (This method of loading up the last page with outright sales or subscriptions--i.e., very few RFTs--seems to be a growing trend among FO marketers.) Anyway, the selection water was muddied a little further when we found that two of the thirteen ad banners were Discover Card offers. If you’re already a Discover Card holder, that’s two less offers to choose from. If you don't already hold a Discover Card, the requirements to successfully complete the offer say that your credit app must be approved, you must activate the card, then make a purchase or a balance transfer. (But, the application is free.) If you are unable to select a Discover Card offer, that means you must take nine out of the 11 remaining ads, which is the way we reviewed this page, as shown next.
We did the "easy" Platinum offers first by taking the 2 risk free trials (Video Professor and Ivory White teeth brightener) which cost $12.90. After that, the next lowest priced 7 offers consisted of two outright sales totaling $69.95 and five subscriptions totaling about $117.
Question Marks Abound On This One
Proverbial bottom line: our 2 free Jet Blue tickets cost us about $200, plus the associated monthly memberships on some RFTs. Checking the Jet Blue airfare web site, we find that two adults can fly across country (JFK to San Diego or LAX to Boston) for a minimum of $184 and a maximum of $234. Twice that if you’re going round trip.
Bargain Or Burden?

How About Another Offer
Virtually Identical to This One...Only Better?
The Free Zinger offer seems like a push to us, as far as dollar-amount in vs. value out.
We think that if the incentive to be gained had a little more "gravitas," there would likely be a lot more appeal.
That’s why we like the essentially identical offer from Brand Giveaway Center (BGC).
Their offer incentive is a Dell XPS laptop for a total outlay that is some $25 less than that required in the Free Zinger offer.
The BGC offer is a Silver/Gold/Platinum 2-2-9 process as well, and, here too, you can likewise reach the Gold page for no cost, then you can reach
the Platinum page for around $7. Like Free Zinger, there is another 2-2-9 bonus offer following the BGC Platinum page, with a list of incentives
from which to choose, including several $500 gift cards and a 42” plasma TV.
